Ben Hansen: A professional musician and founder/creator of Street Beat. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark Ben started playing drums at the age of nine. Through out his teens, he studied with a vast range of teachers, learning many different musical styles and techniques.
In Denmark, he studied music at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory. In 2002 he moved to Los Angeles. He has recorded and performed with names like; Grammy winner Robert Reynolds (The Mavericks), Studio Altantis, Matrix Music Works (producers Greg Bartok/Harlan Lansky), Guitarists Andy Walo (Junior Wells) and Mitch Perry (Edgar Winther), Singer/songwriter Chad Gendason, Matt Salazar (Depswa), Neil Turbin (Anthrax) etc.
Description of program:
Street Beat is a STOMP-inspired, urban percussion group that uses the ordinary and makes it extraordinary in an explosive percussion celebration that gets your students moving. Students will discover the thrilling world of sound and rhythm in this high-energy show where everyday items are transformed into the ultimate drumming experience.
Students will learn, talk about and perform percussive music. Program covers steady beat, pulse, subdividing, counting, call/response, stage presence and energy.
Our modern day "re-purposed" items percussion concept helps students open up and identily with the world of rhythm. Our programs are fun and easily accessible for students of all ages and backgrounds.
